Director of Finance

Job Description Job Description Position Summary The Director of Finance is a key member of the leadership team, responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the organization. This role combines nonprofit finance oversight with sophisticated investment and financial modeling responsibilities, including real estate investment analysis. The Director of Finance ensures the organization’s fiscal health, compliance with nonprofit regulations, and the prudent stewardship of assets to advance the mission. This role also oversees daily fiscal operations, works with the Controller/Bookkeeper, ensures grant compliance, maintains strong internal controls, and verifies accurate data entry and transaction processing in QuickBooks Online without performing direct data entry. The Director ensures segregation of duties and reviews all postings for accuracy, allowability, and proper coding. Key Responsibilities 1. Financial Strategy, Modeling, and Analysis 2. Accounting & Compliance 3. Real Estate Investment and Financial Modeling 4. Stakeholder Engagement Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA required. Additional CFA or MBA preferred 8+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 3 years in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization. Excellent knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards, grant compliance, and fund accounting. Demonstrated expertise in real estate finance, including investment analysis, cash flow modeling, and property portfolio oversight. Strong background in financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario planning. Very strong attention to detail. Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex financial concepts into clear insights for diverse stakeholders.
