NICU Respiratory Therapist

Shift: Straight Nights - 12-hour shifts - 36 hours per week

Job Description

The NICU Respiratory Therapist is responsible for performing and documenting evaluations and patient assessments. This position provides diagnostic and therapeutic treatment, as well as appropriate education for patients and their families. The therapist will identify significant changes in a patient's condition and document all findings accurately.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide diagnostic and therapeutic treatment alongside physician assistance.
• Deliver appropriate patient education and family support tailored to individual needs.
• Document patient assessments and changes in condition as per standard operating procedures.
• Communicate relevant information effectively to the appropriate caregivers.
• Perform pain assessments and take necessary actions in accordance with protocols.
• Complete all necessary documentation, including order entry, verification, and electronic medical records (EMR).
• Process patient charges and run necessary reports.
• Disassemble, clean, assemble respiratory equipment, and perform preventative maintenance.
• Tag equipment needing maintenance, repair, or safety checks, and notify the appropriate department.
• Transport infants to and from referral health systems.
• Provide high-quality critical care following established patient care guidelines.
• Fulfill other related duties as assigned to meet department and organizational needs.

Required Certifications

• Respiratory Therapist Certification | North Dakota State Board of Respiratory Care
• Respiratory Therapist Certification | Minnesota Board of Medical Practice
• Basic Life Support (BLS) | American Heart Association (AHA)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) | American Heart Association (AHA)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) | American Heart Association (AHA)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) | RQI Partners
