Why Our Veterinary Technicians Love It Here Consistent scheduling designed to support a healthy work-life balance A supportive, collaborative team that genuinely helps one another succeed Opportunities to fully utilize your surgical, anesthesia, and treatment-room skills Leadership that values your experience and encourages professional growth Mentorship and continuing education opportunities to help you keep leveling up A positive workplace built on teamwork, respect, and excellent medicine Opportunities for experienced technicians interested in developing leadership skills What Our Veterinary Technicians Do Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, surgeries, and other procedures Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures Prepare patients, surgical suites, instruments, and equipment for procedures Assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, recovery, and accurate anesthetic documentation Monitor patient vital signs and communicate changes promptly to the veterinarian Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, fluid therapy, and diagnostic sample collection Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed Obtain high-quality diagnostic radiographs Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for reference laboratories Work confidently in treatment rooms while assisting DVMs with appointments and patient care Safely and compassionately handle and restrain patients Educate clients regarding medications, treatment plans, preventive care, and discharge instructions Maintain accurate and complete medical records Keep surgical, treatment, and exam areas clean, organized, stocked, and ready for patient care Anticipate the needs of the veterinary team to promote efficiency and exceptional patient care What You’ll Bring Previous Veterinary Technician experience in a clinical setting Strong surgical and anesthesia-monitoring experience Confidence assisting with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery Strong technical skills, including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, laboratory procedures, and diagnostic imaging Safe and effective patient-handling and restraint skills Comfort working in both surgery and treatment-room environments Excellent client communication and education skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to multitask and maintain high standards of patient care in a busy hospital Confidence taking ownership of tasks and responsibilities Positive attitude, dependability, and a collaborative, team-first mindset Commitment to continued learning and professional development Leadership interest or potential is a plus Genuine passion for veterinary medicine and exceptional patient care The Extras You’ll Actually Feel At Animal Medical Center of McKinney, we believe caring for our patients starts with caring for one another.
