Application Developer

Salary: $59,500 - 65,500 per year Requirements: We require a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or an equivalent mix of education and experience. We are seeking candidates with 0–2 years of professional software development experience. Internship or academic programming project experience is expected. We want demonstrated interest in technology and software development. A basic understanding of the software development lifecycle is needed. Exposure to IBM i, AS/400, or similar platforms is preferred. Experience with Jira or comparable project tracking tools is preferred. Familiarity with Agile/Scrum practices is preferred. Prior work in business application development is a plus. Knowledge of testing methods and quality assurance is preferred. Participation in coding bootcamps, hackathons, or open-source projects is a plus. Basic understanding of APIs and system integrations is preferred. We need someone willing to work on-site in Camden, NY five days per week. Candidates must be able to commute to Camden, NY 13316. Responsibilities: We review and prioritize incoming development requests, bug reports, and enhancement tickets. We assess the scope and complexity of reported issues and gather additional details from users when needed. We document issues clearly in Jira and route complex items to senior team members. We track issues through resolution and keep status information up to date. We resolve bugs in existing applications across multiple platforms. We deliver small enhancements, report and query updates, interface changes, and minor feature additions. We ensure fixes align with coding standards and best practices. We test bug fixes and enhancements before deployment. We perform regression testing, validate integrations and data flows, and confirm solutions meet business needs. We document test cases and results and support user acceptance testing. We contribute to low- to moderate-complexity projects independently. We break requirements into manageable tasks, estimate effort, and set practical timelines. We code solutions according to team standards and collaborate when obstacles arise. We develop our skills in IBM i, RPG, CL, DB2, modern languages, and frameworks. We study existing code to understand system architecture and participate in code reviews. We write clear, maintainable code with comments and maintain technical documentation. We update system documentation and contribute to knowledge base articles. We manage timelines, milestones, and progress tracking in Jira. We communicate delays or blockers proactively and prioritize multiple tasks effectively. We work closely with team members and business users, providing clear updates and explaining technical issues in plain language. We participate in team meetings, ask for help when needed, and build positive working relationships.
