Employment Details Employment Status: Full time Shift: Day (United States of America) Facility: 101 Elm Ave - Roanoke Requisition Number: R160316 RN I - Practice - Occupational Health - CRCH (Open) How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare This position is located with the Occupational Health department at Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital (CRCH) in Roanoke, VA. The position is full time Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm, no holidays, no weekends. As a registered nurse, you are expected to consistently deliver the best in care and customer service and demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with our patients, their families, visitors, and with each other. As part of the health care team, RNs assume primary accountability for nursing coordination and provision of individualized care for patients of all ages. The registered nurse also utilizes delegation and critical thinking skills to provide quality service through a team oriented, collaborative approach to patient care. Responsibilities Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care in order to achieve optimum patient outcomes for patients of all ages as appropriate to service area. Complete age specific admission and ongoing assessments, documented and used to develop a plan of care. Collaborate with members of the health care team, patient, and family to develop, implement, and evaluate an age‑specific interdisciplinary plan of care; revise the plan according to changes in patient status. Administer and document treatments and medications accurately utilizing automated computer systems, including electronic medical records. Identify patient/family (caregiver) educational needs in a timely manner, incorporate into the plan of care, implement and document appropriately. Contribute to Carilion Clinic’s performance improvement activities. Act as patient advocate, protector of patient’s rights, and provider of psychological/social/cultural support. Apply knowledge of growth and development to appropriately care for patients served. Determine and perform clinical, leadership, and education pathways to support evidence‑based, quality patient care service and performance improvement. Exhibit clinical expertise in rapidly changing circumstances; plan strategies to reduce length of stay, turnaround time, resource consumption and improve patient outcomes. Act as role model for clinical practice to coworkers, students, and physicians. Manage resources, establish priorities, and modify environment to meet patient care needs. Complete manager/director predetermined projects within specified time frame and according to pre‑established guidelines. Use problem‑solving methods to facilitate resolution to patient and personnel situations. Take an active role in the orientation of new employees; provide feedback to staff using appropriate communication and documentation. Provide input into practice, environment, and work issues by participating on unit, hospital, and system activities, facilitating staff participation and input into decision making. Assist with providing education activities for unit/department. Qualifications Education: Graduate of School of Professional Nursing of an accredited college or graduate of an approved program eligible to sit for the VA licensure exam. Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure. Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required; may be required to obtain/maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP based on specific work unit. Computer skills required for electronic medical record (EPIC).
