Part-Time Bus DriverHuntington University seeks part-time bus drivers for a 35 passenger bus. The Bus Driver is responsible for transporting students, staff, coaches, and passengers safely to and from their destination in the established times and in all types of weather and road conditions, observing legal, safe, and defensive driving practices.QualificationsMust have a strong personal faith in Jesus Christ, a desire to serve others and a commitment to being a faithful steward of university resourcesMust have a "clean" driving recordHave sufficient physical and mental abilities to operate a school bus/van in a safe mannerMust be narcotic drug and alcohol freeProfessional driving experience preferredThis is a part-time, on call positionMust possess a valid commercial driver's with passenger endorsementMinimum age of 25 yearsResponsibilitiesBus/VanMaintain vehicle by conducting safety inspection, inspect the interior and exterior and the engine prior to useMaintain order among passengers and report any behavioral issues to the appropriate personnel, assure passengers understand bus rules of safetyAssist students, staff, coaches, and passengers in and out of vehicle as neededAssist students, staff, coaches, and passengers with loading and unloading equipment as neededAdministrativeCollaborate with coaching and administrative staff to establish transportation scheduleMaintain and update route sheets and schedules, manifesto along with emergency contact informationAssist with other projects and perform other duties as assigned by the VP of Business & Finance TreasurerPhysical Requirements of the Position:Employee is regularly required to focus, see, speak, and hear and to have dexterity of the hands and fingersMust be able to sit for extended periods of time while drivingOther duties may require bending, kneeling, twisting, and reaching overhead, above shoulders and horizontallyMay be required to lift, carry, and/or push moderately heavy persons in effort to evacuate the bus/van in case of emergencyShall be required to meet all regulatory standards as directed by the State of Indiana as a driverGeneral Information: Huntington University is an independent, Christian liberal arts university.
