Radiologic Technologist

Job Description Summary The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with Medical Providers and/or Medical Assistants with the examination and treatment of UCSF-GoHealth Urgent Care patients. The role is responsible for performing and analyzing patient x-rays, applying prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnosis, and providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation. Responsibilities Collaborate with Medical Providers and Assistants in patient care management, organization, and communication. Apply x‑ray energy for diagnosis or treatment of patients of all ages. Position patients correctly and protect them during imaging. Prepare patients for examination, including verifying information and recording medical history. Perform preliminary physical tests (blood pressure, weight, temperature) and escalations as needed. Conduct point‑of‑care testing (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG) and provide results to providers. Maintain and operate X‑ray equipment, perform routine maintenance, and manage supplies. Adhere to radiation safety protocols and implement ALARA. Document procedures, maintain accurate patient records, and log results in electronic systems. Support clinic operations and assist medical team in determining optimal imaging protocols. Essential Functions Perform x‑ray services under the direction of the clinical provider. Ensure correct patient positioning and equipment shielding. Maintain quality assurance and quality control logs, troubleshoot breakdowns, and submit repair tickets. Patient Preparation and Rooming Inform technical staff of patient flow. Conduct patient interviews to verify information and confirm purpose of visit. Record vital signs and report critical cases to provider. Provide patient information from point‑of‑care tests. Maintain courtesy call‑backs for patient follow‑up. Administrative Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files. Follow operating instructions for daily controls and calibration of equipment. Other Responsibilities Collaborate with ordering/treating provider to determine procedures or views. Explain procedures to patients, ensuring comfort and safety. Accurately position patients and equipment for optimal imaging. Select appropriate ionizing factors to capture clear diagnostic images. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of X‑ray equipment. Implement radiation safety protocols and minimize exposure. Verify image quality and ensure images are sent to radiologists. Knowledge X‑ray procedures and protocols. Anatomy and physiology necessary for X‑ray testing, including body mechanics. Radiology equipment and safety hazards. Skills Proper patient positioning for X‑ray procedures. Identifying equipment problems and notifying supervisor. Following infection control and radiological safety procedures. Education & Experience High School Diploma required. Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required. Experience in a clinical setting preferred. Licenses & Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) at time of hire. American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration at time of hire. State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist (if applicable).
