TITLE: CRITICAL SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN III, HVAC

Location: Tempe, AZ Responsibilities The Critical Systems Technician III, HVAC serves as the lead technician for all mission-critical mechanical services/maintenance under contract. The role monitors compliance with contractual commitments and provides guidance, leadership and knowledge regarding installation, service, maintenance, and operation of mission-critical data center mechanical equipment. All responsibilities of HVAC Tech 2. Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, routine and emergency repairs without supervision on HVAC equipment, including but not limited to: Air and water-cooled reciprocating chillers Centrifugal and screw package chillers Natural gas boilers and unit heaters Electric duct heaters Pneumatic, DDC and Variable Frequency Drive controls HVAC air distribution systems, AHUs, FCUs, fans and related devices Various types of water pumps used in HVAC systems Maintain, upgrade and back up Building Automation Software as required. Respond to after-hours calls as needed. Supervise and mentor technicians of lower grades and support their development through experience and study. Be available for on-call after-hours work. Perform other duties as assigned. Regular and reliable attendance is required. Qualifications Education/Experience (Desired): High School Diploma/GED Successful completion of basic air condition theory class Understanding of HVAC diagnostic tools and instruments Experience with DDC, pneumatic and variable-frequency drive controls Minimum 7 years large commercial HVAC service experience; 8 years preferred Ability to pass or complete required client background checks or training Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office or related software. Certificates and Licenses: Must have current/active AZ Journeyman HVAC license; clear and valid Virginia/Maryland driver’s license; US citizen and ability to obtain security clearance preferred. Supervisory & Physical Demands Supervisory responsibilities: No supervisory duties for this position. Physical Demands: The role may require sitting, standing and walking; regular exposure to moderate noise; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be provided.
