Job no: 540289 Work type: Non-Tenure-Track Faculty Location: Alachua Categories: Education/Training/Instructional Design, Recreation/Event Services Department: 26090100 - HH-THEM ADMIN-INSTRUCTION Lecturer in Event Management (non‑tenure track position) We invite applications for a lecturer position in the Department of Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management. The role requires substantial event and hospitality industry experience to bridge classroom instruction with real‑world practice, enhancing undergraduate recruitment, student retention, internship opportunities, and industry partnerships. Responsibilities Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Event and Entertainment Management, Applied Industry Leadership, Hospitality Human Resources, and Food and Beverage Management. Address immediate instructional needs in Risk, Liability, and Contract Management; Event Technology and Digital Marketing; and Advanced Strategic Event Management. Supervise internship and practicum experiences for event, tourism, and hospitality management students. Develop and contribute to residential and online courses and programs. Cultivate relationships with industry stakeholders, partners, and alumni. Provide career guidance, mentorship, and participate in service activities at the program, department, college, and university levels. Collaborate with faculty to broaden the teaching portfolio and develop innovative coursework. Required Qualifications Earned doctorate (Ph.D.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) in a relevant field. Substantial industry experience in event planning and management, resort operations, or corporate settings. Preferred Qualifications Passion for teaching and student success with a commitment to instructional excellence. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders in the local community and across Florida. Experience in online course development and delivery.
