About the RoleNew Freedom is seeking therapists across multiple levels of clinical development, from master’s-level clinicians working toward associate licensure to independently licensed behavioral health professionals. Candidates will be considered for Therapist I , Therapist II , or Therapist III based on their education, Arizona licensure, experience, and demonstrated clinical competencies.
Across all levels, Therapists provide individual and group behavioral health services within an Intensive Outpatient Program setting. Treatment focuses on substance use, trauma, post-incarceration challenges, co-occurring behavioral health needs, recovery, and successful community reentry. Therapists work collaboratively with members, families when appropriate, and multidisciplinary treatment teams to deliver compassionate, evidence-informed care

What You’ll Be Responsible For- Conducting behavioral health assessments and developing individualized treatment plans
- Providing individual psychotherapy and facilitating structured clinical and psychoeducational groups
- Applying motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and other evidence-informed interventions
- Supporting members in addressing substance use, trauma, co-occurring needs, and reentry-related barriers
- Monitoring member progress, functioning, and risk while responding within the appropriate scope of practice
- Collaborating with members, families, clinicians, Peer Coaches, Re-Entry Specialists, and other care team members
- Maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation, generally within 24 hours of service delivery
- Participating in supervision, case consultation, quality initiatives, training, and program development activities
- Meeting established productivity, documentation, compliance, engagement, and quality expectations

- Assessments and treatment plans accurately reflect member needs, strengths, risks, and recovery priorities
- Individual and group services are engaging, clinically appropriate, and aligned with program standards
- Clinical documentation is complete, accurate, timely, and compliant
- Risks and changes in member functioning are identified and addressed appropriately
- Strong collaboration supports continuity of care and successful member outcomes
- Clinical responsibilities are performed within the scope of the therapist’s education, licensure, and assigned level
- Required clinical supervision, continuing education, and professional development expectations are consistently met

What We’re Looking For- A master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or another behavioral health-related field
- Individuals must be eligible to pursue associate-level licensure in Arizona, or already have their associate or independent licensure (LMSW, LCSW, LAAC, LIAC, LAC, or LPC, etc.)
- A minimum of two years of behavioral health experience
- Experience providing substance use disorder, trauma-informed, co-occurring disorder, or reentry-focused services
- Experience facilitating IOP or other group-based behavioral health services
- Strong clinical, interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to establish therapeutic rapport and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Electronic Health Record systems
- Ability to work within the scope permitted by education, licensure, and applicable supervision requirements
- Minimum age of 21 years
- Experience serving justice-involved or formerly incarcerated populations preferred
- Experience independently managing an individual caseload preferred
- Experience facilitating structured clinical, psychoeducational, or process groups preferred

Environment + Physical DemandsThis position is primarily performed in an outpatient clinical office, classroom, or group-room environment. Responsibilities include member-facing counseling, extended group facilitation, documentation, treatment team meetings, case consultation, and occasional off-site training or community-based activities. Flexible scheduling may occasionally be required based on program or member needs.

- Periods of sitting, standing, walking, and moving between work areas
- Extended computer, telephone, documentation, and Electronic Health Record use
- Ability to facilitate individual and group sessions, including groups lasting two to three hours
- Ability to observe member behavior and group dynamics and respond appropriately
- Occasional lifting or carrying of educational or office materials weighing up to 30 pounds
- Ability to remain calm and follow established procedures when supporting members experiencing emotional or behavioral distress
