Experience:
Minimum 1 year working with frail or elderly population is required.
Previous supervisory experience is required.


License:
Active North Carolina license is required.


Certifications:
Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine is required.
Board Certified in Geriatrics is preferred.
Controlled Substance Registration (CSR/CDS) is required.
DEA certification is required.


Must-Have:
Experience or added qualifications in geriatrics is preferred.
Self-Query NPDB report is required at the time of presentation, pulled within the same month.
Conversion fee is required.


Description:
The Medical Director provides general medical direction and supervision of the medical aspects of participant care.
This position is responsible for the delivery of participant care, clinical outcomes, and oversight of the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) program.
The Medical Director is responsible for the development and maintenance of medical policies, procedures, standards, and protocols.
Direction and supervision will be provided to related Primary Care Providers and Advanced Practice Providers.
Conduct history and physical assessments on new participants, as well as event-based and periodic reassessments.
Develop medical treatment plans and provide medically necessary services in locations where participants may reside.
Interview and evaluate applicants to the organization and their caregivers, participating in the intake and assessment decision.
Discuss each participant's medical conditions and prognosis with them and their caregivers to assist in planning future care.
Execute assignments in a culture that is shared and collaborative across all divisions.
Collaborate in the nursing treatment program of participants.
Establish and/or maintain a plan to achieve operating goals as a member of the leadership team.
Participate as an active member of the interdisciplinary team.
Educate and advise the team regarding the implications of diagnoses, cognitive and physical function, and treatment options.
Participate in team and family conferences and decision-making processes.
Educate participants and families regarding health maintenance and chronic medical conditions in cooperation with nursing staff.
Supervise the healthcare and treatment program developed by the interdisciplinary team.
Perform physical examinations, order and evaluate appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests, and systematically record results.
