Histotechnologist I

Abbott seeks a Histotechnologist I for its Phoenix Cancer Diagnostic Division to perform histology laboratory procedures, prepare tissue slides, and support pathology operations in a CLIA/CAP-certified setting. The role involves routine specimen processing, slide preparation, equipment maintenance, and collaboration with pathologists and laboratory staff.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine sectioning, fixation, and H&E staining procedures for tissue samples
- Label and accession specimens in laboratory information system with accurate patient case identification
- Prepare and process DNA and RNA samples for extraction according to established protocols
- Maintain histology equipment, quality control documentation, and preventive maintenance records
- Perform microdissection of unstained slides and assist with specimen quality review
Requirements
- Histotechnology certification or equivalent training and competency
- Knowledge of FFPE and fresh frozen tissue processing techniques
- Proficiency with histology laboratory information systems and data entry
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures and maintain quality controls
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
