Job Title: Shop Technician Job Description We are seeking a skilled Shop Technician to inspect, repair, and troubleshoot electric AC/DC motors, generators, gearboxes, and related equipment. In this role, you work at a dedicated shop station, performing mechanical and electrical repairs, testing equipment performance, and ensuring all work meets quality and specification standards while maintaining accurate documentation. Responsibilities Inspect and test electric motors, generators, gearboxes, and other equipment to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues. Disassemble electric motors and related equipment to access and evaluate internal components. Repair or replace defective parts such as bearings, brushes, coils, and other mechanical and electrical components. Reassemble motors and equipment following repair, ensuring correct alignment, fit, and function. Measure and test motor performance after repair to verify compliance with specifications and quality standards. Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for mechanical assembly and repair tasks. Interpret and follow blueprints, diagrams, and technical documentation to perform accurate repairs and assemblies. Maintain detailed repair records and documentation of all work performed on equipment. Operate forklifts and overhead cranes to safely move motors, generators, and other heavy equipment within the shop. Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical problems using strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors regarding equipment status, repair needs, and progress. Perform other related responsibilities as necessary to support shop operations and customer requirements. Essential Skills Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform hands‑on repairs and assembly work. Previous technical experience in equipment repair or maintenance is preferred. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with keen attention to detail. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical documents. Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues on motors and related equipment. Experience using basic hand tools and power tools safely and effectively. Ability to operate forklifts and overhead cranes (required). Good communication skills for collaborating with team members and reporting repair status. Comfort working with electrical and mechanical components in a shop environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Knowledge and experience in the automotive, diesel, or agriculture industries is applicable and beneficial. Experience with motor repair, mechanical assembly, and electrical repair work. Familiarity with AC/DC motors, generators, gearboxes, and industrial equipment. Ability to maintain accurate repair records and documentation. Interest in life‑long learning and developing technical skills across a variety of equipment types. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a shop environment, working at a dedicated repair station focused on motors and related equipment. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a half‑hour lunch break. Work involves hands‑on mechanical and electrical tasks, including disassembly, repair, and reassembly of motors and generators, using hand tools, power tools, forklifts, and overhead cranes. The environment is structured and safety‑oriented, providing consistent daytime hours without evening, night, or on‑call shifts. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Omaha, NE. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
