Job Title: Senior Geotechnical Engineer Duration: Permanent, Full-Time Location: Knoxville, TN (Hybrid — office and field work, with remote flexibility as needed) Short Summary about Job: Thompson Engineering is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join its growing Geotechnical Engineering Team as a seller-doer. This role is ideal for an experienced geotechnical engineer who combines strong technical expertise with a proven ability to develop client relationships, generate new business, and lead project execution. The successful candidate will oversee geotechnical investigations, engineering analyses, and project delivery for transportation, commercial, industrial, energy, marine, and municipal infrastructure projects, while helping expand Thompson Engineering's geotechnical practice throughout the Southeast. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or other applicable engineering program (candidates without a degree will be considered if they hold an Associate's degree or higher combined with sufficient progressive experience) Minimum 10 years of progressive geotechnical engineering experience Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Tennessee Proficiency with geotechnical engineering software such as GeoStudio, gINT, LPILE, and GROUP Demonstrated success in business development, client relationship management, and project delivery Ability to perform occasional field work on active construction sites and undeveloped properties, including traversing uneven terrain and working outdoors in varying weather conditions Preferred Qualifications Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D Experience managing energy, transportation, commercial, industrial, municipal and infrastructure projects Target compensation range: $130,000–$200,000+, depending on experience Anticipated start date: As soon as a qualified candidate is selected Hybrid schedule combining office and field work, with remote work available when needed HukariAscendent offers an excellent benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, 401(k) plan, and paid time off.
