MSW (Masters of Social Work)

Social Worker/MSW, Hospice

Education Requirements: Masters Degree in social work from a college or university program accredited by the Council of Social Work education.

Experience: Two years post graduate experience in health care or related setting preferred.

Required Skills: Must be licensed in Social Work in Georgia and have a current Georgia Driver's license and valid automobile insurance coverage. Must be able to meet and communicate professionally with the public. Must have case management and clinical social work skills as well as possess and exhibit interpersonal skills necessary for appropriate counseling of the terminally ill and their families. Must be flexible and adaptable and able to work with a multidisciplinary team. Must be self-motivated and possess good organizational and managerial skills. Must have basic knowledge of medical terms, disease process, grief process and their relationship to psychosocial needs. Must be able to work and to solve problems under stressful conditions and will be expected to respond to patient/family concerns and reactions to terminal process with sensitivity and compassion. Must possess inherent appreciation for and be able to respond to patient/family's individual coping styles and rights to self-determination.

Physical Demands: Physical demands are of moderate level, requiring times of prolonged sitting and standing. Some lifting up to 50 lbs. may be required.

Supervised By: Hospice Director

Performance Standards: Organization Wide: Maintains a professional image. Makes a conscientious effort to help maintain a clean, safe and secure environment. Assumes responsibility for institutional requirements. Displays positive customer service and interpersonal skills. Demonstrates pride in the organization. Strives to work well as a team member.

Social Worker/MSW, Hospice: Performs referral and admission duties. Provides case management services and concrete medical social work. Provides clinical counseling services. Other accountabilities and duties.
