Veterinary Technician, EmergencyJoin Port City Veterinary Referral Hospital as a Per Diem Emergency Veterinary Technician in Portsmouth, NH. Support our ER/ICU team while providing advanced nursing care for emergency, critical care, hospitalized, and specialty patients.If you're a skilled CVT, LVT, RVT, or VTNE-eligible Veterinary Technician looking to continue growing your emergency and critical care experience while maintaining schedule flexibility, we'd love to meet you.Schedule:This is an as-needed, per diem role. You'll have the flexibility to pick up open shifts as they become available; most will be 12 hours in length.Compensation:Earn between $20 and $35 per hour, based on skills and credentials.Shift Differential: Base + $5 for any hours worked between 12a – 7aResponsibilities:Deliver exceptional nursing care to emergency, critical care, hospitalized, and specialty patients including surgical, internal medicine, oncology, ophthalmology, and urgent care casesTriage incoming emergency patients and assess patient status quickly and efficientlyPlace IV catheters, administer medications and fluids, and perform accurate dosage calculationsAssist with patient stabilization and support life-saving procedures, including CPRCollect diagnostic samples and assist with imaging and patient monitoringInduce and monitor anesthesia and sedation for emergency and specialty proceduresMaintain detailed and accurate medical recordsMonitor patient vitals, identify changes in condition, and communicate findings promptly to the attending veterinarianEducate clients at discharge regarding medications, home-care instructions, and follow-up recommendations with empathy and claritySupport a collaborative, team-focused hospital environment while contributing to daily workflow and patient care prioritiesQualifications:CVT / LVT / RVT or VTNE Eligible required1+ years of experience in a small animal hospital setting preferredEmergency or critical care experience is a plusStrong technical skills including patient restraint, venipuncture, catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, and nursing careAbility to prioritize and thrive in a fast-paced emergency veterinary environmentStrong communication skills with both clients and team membersPositive, dependable, and collaborative approach to patient care and teamworkEagerness to continue learning and growing professionallyFluent English speaking and reading skills requiredAbout Port City Veterinary Referral Hospital At Port City Veterinary Referral Hospital, we're more than a 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital—we're a collaborative team committed to exceptional patient care, outstanding client service, and continued professional growth.
