PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS: *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values. *Under the supervision of aClinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA)-designated General Supervisor (Medical Laboratory Scientist), performs laboratory testing according to laboratory standards, policies and procedures in a timely thorough manner. *Analyzes test results and enters data into the computer using laboratory standards, policies, and procedures. *Performs and analyzes quality control measures to ensure accurate clinical data. Analyzes unacceptable quality control results and troubleshoots shifts or trends as necessary. *Maintains competency and proficiency on all laboratory instrumentation and procedures; performs and documents preventive maintenance on laboratory instruments and equipment, troubleshooting problems as necessary.Notifies immediate supervisory personnel of equipment/instrument issues and calls Service regarding issues. *Communicates with coworkers, clients and leadership by transmittingpatient cart testing and results,appropriate ideas, information and opinions clearly,conciselyand courteously; maintains employee, patient, client and corporate confidentiality. *Performs general housekeeping tasks to maintain safe work environment; maintains adequate supplies in the work area. *Works collaboratively with all laboratory staff to ensure completion of testing and communication of necessary information to assist testing completion. *Uses quality improvement processes, programs or outcomes to help improve department operations; assists with LEAN projects. *Performs serviceexcellence must-haves to achieve an excellent patient/customer experience. *Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise. *Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned. *Performs other related projects and duties as assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: *Knowledgegained as a Specimen Processing Technician2of clinical laboratoryequipment/instrumentation,test proceduresandstandards. *Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions. *Skillgained duringon the jobclinical trainingin the use and preventative maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment. *Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply such concepts to practical situations. *Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. *Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization existsand engage critical thinking skills. *Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. *Ability to perform crucial conversations with desired outcomes. *Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel and medical staff. *Ability to work as a team member. *Ability to maintain confidentiality relevant to sensitive information. *Ability to prioritize work demands and work with minimal supervision. *Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Prior experience as a Specimen Processing TechnicianII required.Bachelor’s degreeorabovein a chemical, physical or biological science meetingAmerican Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)criteria for MedicalLaboratoryTechniciancertification or Technologist in Blood Bank, Microbiology, Hematology or Chemistry certificationrequired. #J-18808-Ljbffr
