About the Position

Job Title

Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry / Cardio Thoracic

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Onsite | Every other weekend required | Holiday rotation required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 70-bed Cardio Thoracic unit with a night shift nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6
• Perform continuous EKG monitoring, rhythm interpretation, and collaborate with monitor technicians using Philips telemetry systems
• Titrate drips including Cardizem and heparin per unit protocols
• Care for patients with diagnoses including MI, CHF, atrial fibrillation, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, chest tubes, esophagectomy, and general medical overflow
• Manage respiratory support equipment including CPAP, BiPAP (home regimen), and heated high-flow oxygen in applicable circumstances
• Float to other general medical units as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• Current BLS certification
• Proficiency in EKG interpretation and rhythm strip reading
• Experience with medication titration and drip management
• Competency in all basic nursing skills applicable to an adult medical-surgical/telemetry setting
• Must pass a drug screen; position is located on a drug-free campus

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Current ACLS certification
• Prior experience in a telemetry, cardio thoracic, or step-down unit setting
• Familiarity with chest tube management and post-surgical cardiac or thoracic patient populations
