Electronics Technician

Summary

Duties

Assists in the management of the Medical Center Biomedical Program in accordance with local Federal Veterans Administration and Joint Commission standards and directives.

Assists in the administration of the biomedical equipment records for repairs service and preventative maintenance program with a multi-faceted computerized safety tester/documentation system called Sentinel.

Engages in or oversees the installation maintenance modification trouble diagnosis and subsequent repair of a wide variety of sophisticated and extremely complex electronics based medical equipment devices and systems used in the health care facility.

Provides training and orientation in the diagnosis and solution of problems experienced in technical medical equipment.

Along with all other correctional institution employees incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staffs correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.

Qualifications

To be considered for the position you must meet the following qualification requirements.

Education:

There is no substitution of education for specialized experience.

OR

Experience:

You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position to be filled.

Some examples of this qualifying experience are:

• Experience as a technician instructor inspector or mechanic (civilian or military) that showed progression in theoretical and practical knowledge of electronic theory and of the characteristics function operation and capabilities of a variety of types of electronic equipment.


• Experience in the use of schematic diagrams a variety of test equipment and the application of appropriate electronic formulas involved in such duties as testing troubleshooting modifying designing calibrating installing maintaining repairing constructing developing and instructing on medical electronic equipment or similar functions.


• Experience in demonstrating the ability to provide technical support manage monitor and develop schedules of biomedical electronic equipment.


• Experience in developing policies standards and procedures for maintenance installation or similar functions provided the work clearly shows that the applicant applied a specialized knowledge of the theories and principles of a variety of biomedical electronic systems or equipment.

If applicable credit will be given paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit you must show the actual time (such as number of hours worked per week) spent in the activities.

In accordance with 5 U.S.C. 3307 a maximum entry age of 36 has been established for original appointment to a position in a Bureau of Prisons institution.

Appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of a pre-employment and panel interview urinalysis physical and background investigation.

All applicants not currently working in an institution will be required to complete a qualification inquiry regarding convictions of misdemeanor crimes of domestic violence in order to be authorized to carry a firearm.

Successful completion of the Introduction to Correctional Techniques three-week training course at Glynco Georgia is required.
