Summary Anesthetizes patients undergoing surgical, medical, obstetrical, diagnostic, psychiatric, or resuscitative procedures either by general, regional, or monitored anesthesia. Schedule The schedule for this position will be 4 10s per week with no call. Responsibilities Assesses patient pre‑operatively in a timely and efficient manner, including history, physical exam, anesthesia plan, documentation, explanation of care, risks and benefits to patient and family, and assembly of equipment and drugs. Meets annual departmental quality metrics for turnover times, on‑time starts, and QI submissions. Attends continuing education, professional meetings, institutional and departmental committees, and contributes to the clinical learning experience of other health‑care professionals. Contributes to performance improvement: evaluates problem areas, plans and implements measures to assure improvement in patient outcomes, assists in data collection, and participates in Impact Care activities. Maintains anesthesia records, Impact Care reports, and other documents in a legible manner. Provides anesthesia: performs ASA‑approved checklist of equipment, ensures a safe environment, administers anesthesia per Department of Anesthesiology standards of care, places appropriate lines and monitors, adjusts care, notifies personnel in abnormal situations, transports patient at end of case, and documents anesthesia care. Other Information Education Requirements Completion of a Nurse Anesthesia program accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA). Licensure/Certification Requirements Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in the state of North Carolina; board certification if required by the Department.
