Overview University Correctional Health Care (UCHC), operating within Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is dedicated to providing comprehensive health services—including physical, mental, dental, and sex offender treatment—to individuals in the New Jersey criminal justice system. Position Details Per Diem Technician I (Multiple Vacancies) – UCHC New Jersey State Prison, Trenton, NJ. Responsibilities Takes vital signs, height, weight, and documents them in electronic medical records (EMR). Assists the physician/associate practitioner with procedures, including preparing inmates for examination. Obtains specimen collections and handling, including drawing blood. Assists with cleaning, sterilization, and securing of equipment within the Health Service Unit. Maintains supply stock and orders supplies in a timely manner. Aggregates medication orders and forwards them to the pharmacy provider. Qualifications Valid Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification. At least two (2) years of progressively responsible related healthcare experience across multiple areas. CPR certification. Valid driver’s license and own vehicle or alternative transportation between sites. Physical Demands and Work Environment Must be able to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes and lift/rotate patients who are unable to ambulate, up to 50 pounds. Special Conditions Must be approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adhere to all DOC requirements. Benefits Medical, prescription drug, and dental coverage.
