Details Transitional Care Unit within a Level 1 Trauma academic medical center 20-bed unit split between 5A and 10 5B Patient population includes CHF, COPD, kidney/liver/GI/respiratory issues, CIWA, infections, and wounds Any service line can admit, so some general surgical patients may also be seen Patient ratio of 1:5 12-hour night shifts (1900-0700), 36 hours per week EOW (every other weekend) rotation required No on-call or call-back requirements Floating within scope of practice at the hospital may be required EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing used Bedside telemetry monitors with central monitoring at the nurses' station Requirements Active RN license (NC or compact) required BLS and ACLS certifications required Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required Minimum 12 months of core experience in unit specialty within the last year Skills required: trachs, chest tubes, IV starts, wound care, dressing changes, wound vacs, drains, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and central line blood draws Experience with non-titrating drips (Heparin, Lasix, Protonix) required Experience with Cardizem and Amiodarone drips preferred EPIC EMR experience preferred Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN Additional Information Located at an 885-bed Level 1 Trauma, academic teaching hospital with Chest Pain and Stroke Center designations Unit supported by CNAs, charge RN, 24/7 phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and residents Charge RN may take patients if needed Orientation includes NEO and 2 shifts on the unit Scrub color: Royal Blue Free parking available Holiday coverage required for 50% of holidays First-time travelers will not be considered Must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position American Traveler Job ID P-731882.
