Examiner Physician Assistant

POSITION PURPOSE

As an Examiner, you will conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) examinations for Veterans applying for disability compensation from the Department of Veteran Affairs. The role involves reviewing claims, performing focused assessments of claimed injuries, reviewing medical records, and presenting medical opinions based on examinations. Charting from home may be required. Pay Range : $109,036.80 - $199,036.80 per year Job Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive medical disability examinations, including history, physical exam and assessment of disability impact. Review and analyze medical records and diagnostic test results. Render objective medical opinions regarding extent of health issues and impact on work ability. Work within case management system, organize workload, submit findings, and coordinate with Quality Assurance team. Collaborate with healthcare professionals and specialists as needed. Document examination findings in clear, concise reports following VA guidelines. Manage time and scheduling for C&P exams, including travel to other clinics (up to 10%). Ensure compliance with laws, regulations and quality standards. Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (U.S. Department of Education). Valid and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in all U.S. states. Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner. Experience conducting medical disability examinations preferred. Basic Life Support certification. Knowledge of VA MDE program requirements. Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic interpretation and evidence‑based opinion skills. Excellent communication, empathy, analytical, ethical, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Authorized to work in the United States. Reasoning Ability Apply common sense to detailed instructions and problem solving involving few variables. Technological Ability Competent with MS Word, Outlook, Adobe PDF, web‑based platforms, electronic medical records. Familiarity with Microsoft Teams and learning management systems preferred. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods standing and sitting at a desk; ability to lift up to 15 pounds; full range of motion. Travel Requirements 10% travel to other LSGS clinics and occasional additional training or events.
