About the Position

Job Title: Behavioral Health Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Behavioral Health Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in behavioral health required. License: Must have a valid nursing license. Certifications: BLS required; CPI and MAB preferred. Must-Have: - 2 years of behavioral health nursing experience. - Completed at least 1 travel assignment. - Familiarity with managing patients with a range of mental health disorders. Description: We are seeking a Behavioral Health Registered Nurse. The position involves rotating between inpatient and the Psychiatric Emergency Department. Availability to work every other weekend is required. The nurse will float between two inpatient psychiatric units. The daytime staffing patient ratio is 1:1. The experience with a patient ratio of 1:6 is required. Skills required include crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques. Experience with patients diagnosed with anxiety disorders, bipolar disorders, and substance use disorders is essential. The nurse will engage in behavior management techniques and psychoeducation. Required skills also include medication administration by various methods. Involvement in managing suicidal behavior and self-injurious actions is crucial. The role involves precepting, crisis management, and utilizing seclusion protocols. Monthly training for aggressive patient management will be required. The nurse will work within an interdisciplinary team providing comprehensive care. The patient demographic involves adults dealing with severe mental health issues.
