Job Title: Assembler 1st Shift Production Job Description

This 1st shift production assembler role focuses on the refurbishment and processing of electronic modems through a structured, multi-step workflow. You will handle products from receiving through testing, cleaning, repair, and final packing, while working on your feet throughout the day in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The position offers cross-training across multiple process steps and the opportunity to develop skills in electronic assembly, quality inspection, and general warehouse operations.

• Receive incoming modems and accurately document all items received in the system.
• Perform factory reset procedures by manually pressing designated buttons and ensuring proper device initialization.
• Conduct automatic plug-in tests on up to 32 units at a time, monitoring test equipment and cycle times that may range from 60 to 90 minutes.
• Run WiFi tests to verify connectivity and performance, following established testing protocols.
• Carry out elevated temperature tests to assess device performance under specific environmental conditions.
• Complete cosmetic cleaning of modems, ensuring devices meet appearance standards before moving to the next process step.
• Perform cosmetic repairs on housings and external components to restore devices to an acceptable visual condition.
• Execute in-process quality control (IPQC) checks to confirm that units meet quality requirements at each stage of the workflow.
• Assemble and prepare kits, ensuring all required parts and components are included and correctly organized.
• Build pallets and pack out kits for shipment, including palletizing units for downstream customers according to specified guidelines.
• Prepare products for shipping, including labeling, staging, and scanning parts at every step to maintain accurate tracking.
• Work effectively with team members and support cross-training by learning and performing multiple steps within the 12-step process.
• Maintain strong attention to detail throughout all tasks to ensure product quality and accurate documentation.
• Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures while using tools, test equipment, RF scanners, and computers.
• Contribute to general labor tasks as needed, including stock handling, picking, and packing to support overall production flow.

• Strong attention to detail when documenting, testing, cleaning, repairing, and packing electronic devices.
• Comfortable working on your feet for the entirety of the shift in a production environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute positively to a team-focused environment.
• Willingness to be cross-trained and to perform multiple steps within a structured 12-step process.
• Good hand dexterity for handling small parts, performing repairs, and completing assembly tasks.
• Punctuality and reliability in attendance to support consistent production operations.
• Ability to use RF scanners to track parts and units through each step of the process.
• Basic computer skills to operate test equipment interfaces and document process steps.
• Capability to perform general labor tasks such as picking, packing, stocking, and pallet building.
• Comfort working with test equipment and power tools in accordance with safety guidelines.

• Experience in assembly or electronic assembly environments is beneficial.
• Background in pick, pack, and retail or warehouse operations is an advantage.
• Exposure to repair or refurbishment of electronic parts and devices is preferred.
• Familiarity with quality inspection processes and in-process quality control is helpful.
• Ability to read and follow blueprints or work instructions is a plus.
• Experience using soldering tools or related equipment in an electronics context is an asset.
• Comfort working with stock management and inventory processes in a production facility.

This role is based in a brand-new facility in Elgin, IL, specifically built out for high-volume electronic refurbishment and production work. The site includes a locker area and a cafeteria equipped with refrigerators and microwaves, providing convenient spaces for breaks and storage of personal items. The facility uses RF scanners, test equipment, computers, and power tools as part of the daily workflow, and you will be on your feet for the full shift in a clean, organized production environment. The location sits approximately half a mile north of Interstate 90 and half a mile south of Route 72, right off Randall Road, with nearby gas stations and restaurants for easy access before or after work.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, IL.

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
