Role Summary The Staff Tax Accountant supports the Corporate Tax team in meeting the organization’s U.S. federal income tax compliance and tax accounting responsibilities. This entry-level role compiles and analyzes financial information, prepares workpapers and tax calculations, and supports income tax returns, estimated payments, extensions, quarterly and annual income tax provisions, and tax examinations. The accountant will work with experienced tax professionals, receive coaching and feedback, and build technical, analytical, and professional skills through a variety of assignments and special projects. Responsibilities Support the preparation of U.S. federal income tax returns, related foreign information reporting, estimated tax payments, and extensions. Compile, reconcile, and analyze financial accounting data; prepare well-documented workpapers; and assist with book-to-tax adjustments, taxable income calculations, and tax forms and schedules. Coordinate information provided to external tax service providers, track requests and deliverables, and assist with reviewing work products for completeness and accuracy. Assist with quarterly and annual income tax provision calculations. Gather and organize information for federal income tax examinations and assist in responding to information requests. Perform tax research and summarize findings. Partner with colleagues across Finance and other functional areas to obtain information and help ensure accurate, timely filings and deliverables. Maintain organized documentation, communicate status and potential issues promptly, and take increasing ownership of assigned work. Assist with various special projects. Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Preferred: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a desire to learn. Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Detail oriented, organized, and able to multi-task and meet deadlines. Knowledge of, or a willingness to explore, artificial intelligence, tax technology, data analytics tools, and process automation to improve efficiency. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Coursework or experience in corporate taxation is a plus. CPA eligibility or interest in pursuing the CPA designation is a plus. FINRA Requirements FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role. Work Flexibility This role is eligible for hybrid work, with up to one day a week from home. Base Salary Ranges Please review the job posting for the location of this specific opportunity. $59,000.00 - $94,500.00 for the location of: Maryland, Colorado, Washington and remote workers $61,000.00 - $104,000.00 for the location of: Washington, D.C. $69,500.00 - $118,000.00 for the location of: New York, California Placement within the range provided above is based on the individual’s relevant experience and skills for the role. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.
