Clinical Pharmacist Opportunity
An opportunity is available for a Clinical Pharmacist to take on a full-time contract role lasting 6 to 12 months, with a distinctive emphasis on retail and specialty pharmacy operations, regulatory compliance, accreditation adherence, and 340B pharmacy program management.
This position extends beyond traditional dispensing duties. The selected candidate will play a critical role supporting and advising outpatient pharmacy operations within a health-system environment. Collaboration with pharmacy leadership, legal, compliance teams, and other internal stakeholders is essential to ensure operational excellence and regulatory adherence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day outpatient and retail pharmacy operations
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and pharmacy-specific regulatory requirements
- Provide guidance on 340B program compliance, managing approximately 80% of pharmacy business under 340B
- Navigate Medicare, Medicaid, billing, and payer regulations to maintain compliance
- Support ACHC and URAC accreditation activities, including survey readiness, documentation, and policy maintenance
- Review and update pharmacy policies and procedures to close operational and regulatory gaps
- Collaborate closely with pharmacy leadership and legal/compliance teams on operational and regulatory matters
- Assist specialty pharmacy processes to meet regulatory and organizational standards
- Participate in operational improvements and workflow organization initiatives
- Perform pharmacist duties and support dispensing operations as required
Qualifications:
- Active New York Pharmacist license
- Strong experience in retail and outpatient pharmacy settings
- Expertise in specialty pharmacy operations
- In-depth knowledge of 340B program operations and compliance
- Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and payer-related requirements
- Working knowledge of ACHC and URAC pharmacy accreditation standards
- Proven experience in regulatory compliance and developing pharmacy policies
- Effective communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including legal and compliance sectors
Highly Preferred:
- Experience preparing for and maintaining ACHC and/or URAC accreditation
- Solid understanding of specialty pharmacy regulatory requirements
- Experience within a health-system outpatient pharmacy environment
- Proficiency with PrimeRx pharmacy system
- Extensive management or oversight of 340B pharmacy operations
