Responsibilities Ensure that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the project site are operating at peak efficiency. This involves planned preventive maintenance, daily corrective work, and emergency response to emergent issues. Act as an expert technical resource reporting to a program manager, interacting with Onsite Engineering Operations (OEO) and any third‑party vendors. Render assistance in administration and regulation of junior technicians and oversee contractors’ roles for electrical duties. Analyze systems requirements, conduct research on equipment and procedures, and recommend modifications to new and existing systems. Install new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines, relying on MOPs, manufacturer literature, and industry best practices. Utilize safe working practices, apply lockout/tagout, MSDS, and good housekeeping methods. Troubleshoot, repair, and modify malfunctioning electronic units such as printed circuit boards, set‑up sensing mechanisms, and advanced electrical circuits. Perform maintenance, installations, and service repairs on critical data center systems and all industrial electrical equipment and systems, including power distribution components, wiring, electronic components, and lighting systems. Use appropriate test equipment, including infrared scanning and vibration analyzing meters, to perform diagnostics and log activities in CMMS. Conduct daily walk‑throughs of the facility to document parameters such as power availability, temperature, humidity, and alarm status. Manage mechanical and electrical systems in emergency situations, including HVAC components, power distribution equipment, generator systems, load transfer and control systems, UPS systems, DC power systems, and fire and life safety. Identify required materials and parts for maintenance and repair; prepare and present cost estimates for parts, equipment, and supplies. Maintain relationships with major vendor accounts. Schedule, coordinate, and oversee all critical environment vendors during maintenance, emergency, and break/fix events to ensure personnel safety and power to the critical load. Set up and operate electrical data‑capturing devices (Dranetz, Fluke PQA, etc.). Create and review MOPs and SOPs to ensure they are up‑to‑date and comply with safety guidelines. Generate internal and vendor field service reports describing all activities and review them before submission. Develop reliability reports to identify areas for increased efficiency, resiliency, or mitigation of unplanned downtime. Conduct training with junior technicians and other staff on electrical equipment/systems for maintenance, repairs, and operation. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on generators, switchgear, UPS systems, transformers, and lighting systems. Diagnose and repair electrical malfunctions, ensuring minimal downtime. Ensure all work complies with company safety policies, local electrical codes, and industry standards. Conduct regular testing of electrical equipment to ensure proper operation and compliance with regulatory requirements. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment status, and repairs. Collaborate closely with other engineering teams to coordinate repairs, maintenance activities, and new installations. Respond to emergency calls and perform repairs to ensure continuous operation of critical systems. Stay updated on the latest electrical technologies and safety practices; participate in ongoing training. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 8 years of experience. State issued Masters License. Candidate Expectations Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, floor plans, construction documents, safety requirements, OEM operating and maintenance instructions, and job specifications. Organize safe maintenance principles for regulating and scheduling planned and unplanned activities and meet deadlines for work and projects. Interpret building codes and local and federal regulations and apply them as required by the site. Maintain maintenance records as required by City, State, and EPA regulations. Operate and inspect emergency power generation and reliability equipment, ensuring proper functioning and adherence to MOPs and manufacturer literature. Utilize hand tools and test equipment for maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical equipment. Plan and perform preventive maintenance of electrical systems throughout the facility and troubleshoot advanced electrical circuits. Understand power density and parity with HVAC system capacities, ensuring availability and capacity targets are maintained.
