• 5+ years of Kafka / MongoDB / Platform Engineer
• Kafka - create stream, events, topics
• Automation of Kafka - forward thinking
• 20 applications using Kafka Streaming - (manually now - all needs to be automated)
• Thinking architecturally - set direction for logging, backups, failover
• Some data starts in DB2 and moves to NoSQL Mongo
• Know when to direct to NoSQL or Relationship DB
• Help determine what transactional data should move to Kafka and what applications should not

In this platform engineering role, you will be responsible for deploying and maintaining data platform and tool solutions to gain a competitive advantage. While deploying new databases and data streaming tools you will have the opportunity to leverage your technical and communication skills by collaborating with stakeholders from multiple divisions.

What you'll do:

• Design, configure and install next-gen databases and tools such as MongoDB, Kafka and Hadoop
• Analyze and decide future of existing mainframe, Oracle and SQL databases in a next-gen world
• Develop integrated system designs and specifications
• Technically develop in Linux and Windows premise and cloud data centers
• Debug and correct complex internal and external infrastructure problems
• Ensure availability, debug and correct complex infrastructure problems
• Document step-by-step procedures and system configuration for use in ongoing support
• Preferred work schedule/hours 8am-5pm CST

Position requirements what you'll need:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or another applicable field is preferred
• 5+ years of experience in systems administration
• 3+ years of experience in a platform engineering role in support of business intelligence or advanced analytic tools (e.g. MicroStrategy, Tableau, SPSS, SAS, RStudio, Anaconda, etc.)
• Experience creating automation and design of platforms that enable self-service environment for developers
• Experience in platform engineering role in support of next generation data platforms and tools
• Hands-on experience and technical knowledge of database platforms, (ie: SQL, Oracle) with added focus on next-gen platforms such as Kafka and MongoDB
