Who you are:

• Degree in recreational therapy and/or Activity Director Certification preferred.
• Three years' experience in senior living and/or event planning and programming.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Three years' experience leading a team.
• Must be proficient with computer, MS-Word, Outlook, Excel, and other office equipment.

The Activities Director is responsible for planning, coordinating and directing a wide and varied scope of activities and programming which meet the social, educational and recreational (religious) needs of the resident population. The Activities Director ensures activities are provided that enhance the quality of life for all independent living residents.

What you will do:

1. Plans, coordinates, and directs a wide scope of social, educational, and recreational activities with the intent of including all residents in some area of activity.

2. Responsible for the coordination of transportation to events and programs when necessary, including bus transportation and other vehicle transportation. Ensures the safety and well-being of all residents during events and trips.

3. Manages Activities departments to include Transportation.

4. Interviews, selects, supervises, monitors, and serves as the community liaison for all contract personnel for entertainment personnel and for all Resident Functions and Activities. Reviews, monitors and approves contracts/agreements for all external/contracted personnel.

5. Plans, organizes, posts and/or distributes information and material regarding events, programs, activities, etc., including monthly calendars.

6. Develops, plans, coordinates and creates Newsletters for the Community as well as master calendar of events. This may include Transportation, Activities, Wellness and General Information.

7. Maintains appropriate records pertaining to the department budget. Monitors and controls cost expenditures, providing justifications/explanations for variances as appropriate.

8. Responsible for the startup and coordination of Resident Committees and Resident Interest Groups.

9. Conducts an orientation for all new residents and interacts with Director of Marketing to ensure smooth transition to the community.

Additional Responsibilities:

1. Encourages residents to take an active part in the community and recreational programs.

2. Assists residents in determining the level and quantity of activity.

3. Prepares and maintains required reports, records, studies and surveys.

4. Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.

5. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

6. Coordinates services with other departments and involves other departments in activities as applicable to include Food and Beverage departments for events and functions.
