Responsibilities And Duties Assess patients prior to surgery (e.g. NPO status). Provide education and reassurance to patients and caregivers prior to surgery. Gather all supplies needed for the surgical procedure. Assume responsibility for maintaining a sterile field. Ensure proper positioning and preparation of the patient on the operating table. Adherent to safety standards and precautions set forth by AORN (accrediting body). Assuming duties within or out of the sterile field as assigned within the sterile field. Assist the surgical team with setting up rooms. Assess safety and functionality of equipment prior to procedures. Actively participate in Time Out. Assisting the OR team throughout the case as needed. Job Requirements A valid NYS Nursing License. Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing. Excellent knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques. Solid understanding of patient safety and precautions. In-depth knowledge of surgical operation procedures. Outstanding organizational ability. Be a team player with excellent communication skills. Even-tempered with emotional and physical stamina. At least one year of OR experience is preferred. Preferred experience with high-acuity orthopedic procedures. Current Basic Life Support (BLS). Successful completion of ACLS course within 90 days (about 3 months) of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification. Successful completion of PALS course within 90 days (about 3 months) of employment or documentation of current PALS certification. #J-18808-Ljbffr
