Pipe/Mechanical Trades II Hvac Technician

A stable career with the State of Colorado. This Pipe/Mechanical Trades II position serves as CSU Pueblo's campus HVAC technician, with primary responsibility for HVAC, refrigeration, and building automation systems across the university. While the State of Colorado classification title is Pipe/Mechanical Trades II, the position is primarily focused on HVAC-related work.

What you'll do

As part of our Facilities Management team, you will:

• Troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and install commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment across campus.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, refrigeration, and control-system issues.
• Maintain and repair pumps, control valves, chillers, cooling towers, and related mechanical systems.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, install, and repair building automation and DDC controls.
• Perform refrigerant recovery and charging in accordance with applicable state and federal requirements.
• Evaluate equipment performance, identify repair or replacement needs, and assist with planning materials and equipment for projects.
• Collaborate with other skilled trades employees on campus maintenance, improvement projects, and seasonal operations.

What we're looking for

Minimum qualifications per the State of Colorado

Three years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position.

OR

A combination of related education, formalized apprenticeship training, and/or relevant occupational experience equal to three years.

Preferred qualifications

• HVAC Journeyman's License; or
• Four years of commercial or industrial HVAC service experience

Salary

$59,460$82,416 annually

Starting salary will be determined in accordance with State of Colorado classified personnel requirements and the candidate's applicable qualifications and experience.
