General Worker Position

Applications from qualified local candidates for the general worker (18.75 hours/week) position at East Granby Carl Allgrove Elementary School - This position is open until filled. Work year: 10-month position 183 days (including 1-day training, school opening, and cleaning day). Work day: 3.75 hours per day/18.75 hours per week (10:00 am to 1:45 pm). Hourly wage: $17.14.

Skills, knowledge, qualifications, and duties: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. Responsible for all general food preparation, serving, cleaning, and sanitation procedures. Assists with preparing vegetables, fruits, salads, sandwiches, and other menu items. Sets up hot and/or cold food areas. Performs cleaning duties, including sweeping floors, cleaning equipment and work areas, dishwashing, and pot washing. Assists in receiving and storing food items. Ability to lift/move up to 30 pounds. Assists in serving of daily menu items. Cashiering experience is desired, but not required. Willingness to learn. Performs other duties as requested by supervisors. Demonstrate the ability to deal effectively and courteously with students, food service department staff, and school personnel. Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Job description: available on request.
