Sanitation Technician

Food Safety And Sanitation SpecialistThis position will support the Food Safety and Sanitation initiatives of the Decatur, AL manufacturing facility. This position will be responsible for maintaining sanitation levels in and around company facilities as set by the Food Safety Plan, Sanitation SOPs and company standards. Current openings for both Day Shift and Night Shift 12-hour 2-2-3 shift.Must be willing to work, Day Shift, 6:30am-7:00pm or Night Shift, 6:30pm-7:00am.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesPerform routine sanitation and janitorial duties in food production facility including equipment, building and groundsEnsure that pest control systems are operating effectivelyProvide input for addressing environmental food safety concerns of the facilityRespond to upset sanitation events in the facilityOther duties as assignedEssential Skills And KnowledgeHigh school diploma or GED requiredAt least 1 year of operational experience within plant required (internal only)Previous sanitation experience in food industry is preferredFundamental knowledge of manufacturing operationsAbility to multi-task and work in fast-paced environmentAbility to follow rules and proceduresDemonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environmentStrong problem-solving skillsBasic computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel)Effective communication skillsDetail orientedQuick learnerAbility to interact cross-functionallyAbility to work independently with minimum supervisionPhysical DemandsAble to climb ladders and perform tasks on a ladder or at heightsAbility to operate powered equipment (Fork Trucks / Scissor Lifts)Ability to operate forklift, floor scrubber and other janitorial equipmentBe able to lift up to 50 pounds on a routine basisPush / Pull up to 100 pounds on an occasional basisAbility to work outside in all types of weatherAble to walk and stand on hard surfaces for long periods of timeOther RequirementsMandatory overtime may be required, occasionally with short noticeOccasional seven-day weeksConfined Space Entry and Fall Protection requiredMust adhere to strict attendance policyPhysically demanding positionPracticing under Good Manufacturing Practices and Regulatory Food Safety ProgramMust have desire to work in constantly changing, progressive environment J.M.
