Retail Shortage Control - Part Time

Join our team as a Shortage Control Associate and contribute to a secure shopping environment while delivering exceptional customer service. This role directly impacts the store's security and overall shopping experience by maintaining command presence, staying informed on theft trends, and fostering a positive impression of control at entrances, exits, and high‑risk areas. As a Shortage Control Associate, you will engage with customers and associates in a confident, friendly, energetic manner, promoting a safe shopping environment. You will monitor entrances throughout every shift, reducing opportunities for theft, shoplifting, and other dishonest behaviors. When a theft incident or suspicious subject is identified, you will report it immediately to your Manager on Duty. You will use your confidence, positive attitude, and expertise in store shortage reduction programs to positively influence customer behavior and build trust and respect among customers and associates. Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required. Command Presence Maintain a professional appearance at all times, wearing the designated dress standards and using radio and earpiece. Stand positioned at the front of the store, remaining vigilant and aware of surroundings. Greet every customer entering or exiting the store with a warm smile and a loud, friendly greeting, promoting a sense of control and security. Create a secure environment and reduce opportunities for theft. Knowledge and Communication Possess mastery of top shortage areas and support programs aimed at theft reduction. Communicate information about theft prevention during store rallies and collaborate with the Manager on Duty. Conduct bag and package checks on store and corporate associates, ensuring adherence to safety and security standards. Understand the role you play in keeping the store and assets safe and secure. Support and Guidance Assist in training associates on shortage reduction programs and processes. Role‑model safety as a top priority and address any unsafe practices promptly. Experience and Responsibilities 1+ year of experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, Asset Protection, Loss Prevention, or Operations preferred. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while visually monitoring store environment. Maintain confidentiality. Analyze business trends and comprehend results. Exhibit a positive demeanor, strong posture, and energetic greeting. Work in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment with detailed focus and disciplined decision‑making.
