Campus & Event Safety/Security Officer

Position Overview The Campus & Event Safety/Security Officer provides a multitude of services that ensures a safe and secure environment for the university community both on a day-to-day basis and during events throughout campus. The officer plays a key role in establishing and strengthening relationships with on‑campus and off‑campus stakeholders through exemplary customer service. Duties Conduct general security patrol on campus and at events and report emergencies to university, city, or state officials. Assist with Safe Walks, extra patrol requests, building lockouts, and on‑call notifications. Enforce university alcohol policies. Monitor access control, check credentials, check tickets, and enforce clear‑bag requirements. Use computer software and applications including word‑processing software, spreadsheets, email, and internet. Work in a team environment to accomplish shared goals. Follow documented policies and procedures. Required Education High School Diploma or equivalent. Required Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be able to work a non‑standard schedule to meet the needs of the department. Must possess a valid driver’s license and comply with policy requirements for driving university‑owned vehicles. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of safety and security operations and best practices. One year of experience as a safety/security officer. Demonstrated competence with written and verbal communication. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Must be able to: Move around and between venues throughout the workday. Carry, lift, or otherwise move items weighing up to 40 pounds occasionally. Bend, stoop, shovel, and be comfortable working at significant heights. Traverse any part of campus including asphalt, sidewalks, grass, dirt, playgrounds, etc. Sit and stand for extended periods of time. Work in inclement weather conditions. Pay Range $19.69 per hour or higher depending on experience.
