Office Assistant Lead, Community Corrections Division – Tacoma, WA [DOC WFSE Monthly Salary Range 41: $3,807.00 to $5,074.00] Our agency is looking to fill a full‑time, non‑permanent Office Assistant Lead (OAL) position within the Community Corrections Division at Tacoma Unit 1, located at the Tacoma Community Justice Center (CJC), 1016 South 28th Street, Tacoma, WA 98409. This non‑permanent appointment is expected to last about six months. Under general supervision by the unit’s Office Manager, the OAL provides a high level of clerical and secretarial support to Community Corrections Supervisors (CCS) and Community Corrections Officers (CCOs). The primary focus will be assigning, distributing, and reviewing work for the unit; responding to frequent requests for information; establishing and maintaining files; responding to inquiries; and providing reception coverage on a rotational basis. Work hours are Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Key Duties Use specialized knowledge, technical skill, and independent judgment to enter and retrieve information from database systems such as the Offender Management Network Information (OMNI) and OnBase. Manage file organization, including file setup and closing, and archiving. On a rotational basis, serve as the receptionist to greet and confer with supervised individuals (S/Is) and the public, answering questions or directing them to the supervising CCO. Manage a multi‑line telephone system. Provide back‑up support duties and other tasks as assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent. Two years of clerical and/or customer service experience that required keyboarding or typing. Required Skills and Abilities Maintain regular and reliable attendance. Respect and maintain confidentiality. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). Ability to assist individuals with various criminal backgrounds. Proficiency navigating internal databases. Proofreading skills, including identification and correction of errors in sentence structure, grammar, and punctuation. Effective and clear communication with staff, supervisees, the public, and stakeholders. Desired Qualifications Two years of corrections experience. Experience working with databases. Experience using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Vision and Mission Working together for safer communities. Improving public safety by positively changing lives.
