Financial Accounting Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented Financial / Accounting Analyst to support financial and operational decision-making through accurate data management, analysis, reporting, and reconciliation. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong analytical and Excel skills with an understanding of accounting, finance, and business operations. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with large amounts of data, identifying trends or discrepancies, and translating information into meaningful insights for internal stakeholders. Responsibilities Enter, maintain, validate, and organize financial and operational data with a high degree of accuracy. Analyze financial, accounting, and business data to identify trends, discrepancies, variances, and opportunities. Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports, spreadsheets, schedules, and financial analyses. Perform reconciliations and investigate discrepancies between financial records, systems, and supporting documentation. Utilize Excel and other analytical tools to manipulate, summarize, and analyze data. Build and maintain spreadsheets, formulas, pivot tables, lookups, and other reporting tools. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial planning as needed. Research and resolve data or accounting discrepancies by reviewing transactions, documentation, and system records. Collaborate with accounting, finance, operations, and other business teams to gather information and support business initiatives. Help identify opportunities to improve data accuracy, reporting processes, and operational efficiency. Maintain organized documentation and ensure work complies with established accounting, financial, and company procedures. Support special projects and other analytical assignments as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, Data Analytics , or a related field. 1–5 years of experience in accounting, finance, financial analysis, data analysis, operations analysis, or a related field. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel , including formulas, pivot tables, lookups, sorting/filtering, and data manipulation. Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to work accurately with large or complex datasets. Basic to intermediate understanding of accounting and financial concepts. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to identify inconsistencies, investigate discrepancies, and determine appropriate resolutions. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience with ERP, accounting, financial reporting, or business intelligence systems. Experience with SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or other data-analysis/reporting tools. Experience with financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, or variance analysis. Experience working with large datasets or high-volume transactions. Familiarity with GAAP and standard accounting principles. CPA, CMA, or other relevant certification is a plus. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is someone who is analytical, detail-oriented, and business-minded—not simply someone who can enter data or build spreadsheets. They should be comfortable digging into numbers, asking questions when something does not look right, and using data to understand what is happening within the business.
