Cecil Ambassador Program

The Cecil Ambassador Program is a paid student leadership opportunity for Cecil College students who are interested in developing personal and professional skills while serving as advocates for Cecil College. The program provides opportunities for campus involvement, networking, and hands-on professional experience. Cecil Ambassadors represent the diverse backgrounds, academic interests, and experiences of Cecil College students. Ambassadors are reliable, friendly, and professional leaders with strong interpersonal and communication skills. They are enthusiastic about sharing their Cecil College experiences with prospective students and their families. This is an onsite position.

Essential Job Functions

• Promote, and attend recruitment events, college fairs, community events, and other college programs.
• Assist the Admissions office in student recruitment efforts
• Provide campus tours for prospective students and their families.
• Share personal Cecil College experiences ("your Cecil College story") at events and presentations.
• Maintain knowledge of Cecil College academic programs, student life opportunities, and the admissions process.
• Perform office and clerical duties as needed.
• Participate in a mandatory Ambassador training sessions.
• Maintain a professional appearance and conduct at all times.
• Submit electronic timesheets biweekly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements to Perform Work

• Be currently enrolled as a Cecil College student and maintain a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA throughout employment.
• Commit to working at least five (5) events per academic year.
• Be available to work evenings and occasional weekends, based on event needs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills and enjoy interacting with prospective students and families. Demonstrate a dependable, professional demeanor and represent Cecil College in a positive manner.

Scheduling Requirements: Be available to work evenings and occasional weekends, based on event needs. Physical Demands: This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met. Work Environment: Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe work place practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations, and traffic signals when driving. Periodic travel between college locations and State meetings. Other: Based upon the budgeted hours of a position, contribution to the Maryland State Retirement Pension System may be required.
