Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)Job Summary: The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide rehabilitative and restorative therapy services that enhance patients' independence, safety, and quality of life. This role focuses on implementing treatment plans, monitoring patient progress, and supporting individuals with complex physical, cognitive, and functional needs, particularly within frail and elderly populations.Key Responsibilities:Implement occupational therapy treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational TherapistAssist patients in improving their ability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs) and functional tasksMonitor patient progress and communicate observations to the Occupational Therapist and care teamUtilize therapeutic exercises, activities, and adaptive equipment to support rehabilitation goalsDocument treatments, patient responses, and progress in accordance with regulatory and organizational standardsCollaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, patient-centered careEducate patients and caregivers on therapeutic techniques and home exercise programs as appropriateRequired Qualifications:Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) programValid California Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) License or proof of license eligibilityMinimum of two (2) years of OTA experience in a clinical setting serving frail or elderly populationsKnowledge and skills necessary to treat elderly patients with complex medical and functional needsPreferred Experience:Outpatient rehabilitation experienceAcute care experienceInpatient rehabilitation experienceSkilled nursing facility (SNF) experiencePreferred Skills:Strong understanding of geriatric rehabilitation principlesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work effectively within an interdisciplinary care teamStrong organizational and documentation abilitiesCommitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered careRequired Certification:California Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) LicenseIdeal Candidate Geriatric experience will not consider pediatric-only experience
