Public Health NurseTeller County is seeking a full time Public Health Nurse to provide professional public health nursing services to protect and improve the health of individuals, families, and the community. Apply nursing expertise and public health principles to identify and address health needs, prevent disease, promote healthy outcomes, and improve access to appropriate health care, services, and resources.What You'll Do:Coordinate reproductive health services and well-woman clinics, including program implementation, staffing, community outreach, education, and required data collection and reporting.Advocate for individuals, families, and the community to improve access to quality health care, services, and resources.Prepare and manage grant applications, reporting, and related requirements within assigned program areas, as applicable.Represent Public Health on community boards, coalitions, and partnerships as assigned.Identify community health needs and service gaps and support strategies that promote access to quality preventive health care.Develop and maintain collaborative community partnerships to identify and address community health needs and concerns.Provide education, resources, and contracted on-site services to health care providers and community organizations, including school districts, resource agencies, and childcare providers.Investigate communicable diseases and other public health concerns and support immunization efforts to prevent disease and promote community health and wellness.Support Public Health emergency preparedness, response, and recovery activities within applicable Health and Medical Emergency Support Function responsibilities.Delegate appropriate duties to support staff or backup nursing staff in accordance with applicable scope of practice, policy, and regulatory requirements.Attend conferences, committee meetings, state and local trainings, staff meetings, and Board of Health meetings as required.Promote Public Health programs, services, and the mission of Teller County Public Health and Environment through community events, outreach, and media activities.Requirements:Education/Experience:Bachelor's in nursing or related field required;Current Registered Nurse (R.N.) License in Colorado required;Minimum two (2) years as an RN in Public Health Nursing or in Community Based Health Care and women's health experience preferred;Any acceptable combination of education, training and experience that provides the listed knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted.You should also have the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of: Professional nursing principles, practices, and standards of care; public health principles, practices, and population-based approaches to disease prevention and health promotion; nursing assessment, pharmacology, clinical intervention, and patient education; communicable disease prevention, investigation, and control practices; applicable patient privacy and confidentiality requirements, including HIPAA; community health resources and health care delivery systems; electronic health records and other technology used in public health and clinical settings; principles and processes for providing excellent customer service, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.Skilled in: Conducting nursing assessments and providing safe, appropriate clinical interventions; communicating health information effectively to individuals, families, health care providers, and community partners; organizing and prioritizing multiple responsibilities and meeting established deadlines; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with clients, community partners, health care providers, and other agencies; using electronic health records, standard office software, and other technology necessary to perform assigned duties; identifying, evaluating, and utilizing reliable health information and professional resources.Ability to: Work independently using sound professional judgment while appropriately utilizing available resources and support; apply nursing and public health principles to individual and community health needs; maintain confidentiality and handle protected health information in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and County policies; identify health needs, service gaps, and appropriate resources or interventions; collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, community organizations, and partner agencies; adapt to changing priorities, public health needs, and program requirements; learn and effectively utilize new technologies, systems, and resources; communicate effectively in writing and verbally; establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with co-workers, other county departments, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and the public.Additional Details About the Role:Visual Acuity/Hearing/Speaking : Requires sufficient visual acuity to perform nursing assessments, observe client conditions, read and prepare records and reports, and operate computers and other clinical or office equipment. Requires sufficient hearing and speaking ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through other communication methods with clients, coworkers, health care providers, community partners, and the public.Physical Effort/Dexterity : Work involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and other movement associated with office, clinical, and community-based activities. Requires sufficient manual dexterity to operate computers and office equipment, maintain records, and safely use medical equipment and supplies. May require lifting, carrying, or moving supplies and equipment associated with assigned duties.Environmental Factors : Work is performed in office, clinical, community, and field settings and may involve exposure to individuals with communicable diseases, bodily fluids, medical materials, and other occupational health hazards. Work may occasionally involve exposure to varying weather, environmental conditions, or unfamiliar locations when providing community-based services or responding to public health needs. Appropriate safety procedures and personal protective equipment are required based on the nature of the assignment.Work Schedule/Characteristics : Generally works a standard workweek; however, the position requires flexibility to attend meetings, clinics, trainings, community events, or other activities outside normal business hours. May be required to respond outside regularly scheduled hours during public health emergencies, outbreaks, or other urgent public health events. Local travel is required to provide services, attend meetings, and perform other community-based responsibilities.License/Certification Requirements : Possession of and ability to maintain a valid Colorado driver's license. Current Registered Nurse (R.N.)
