About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 3-5 years in high acuity and high pace environment, with a preference for candidates with 5 years of high-risk experience. License: Current compact license required. Certifications: BLS, NRP required; ACLS preferred; AWHONN Intermediate and Advanced preferred. Must-Have: Current supervisory references, proof of required certifications, ability to pass clinical review. Description: Candidates must have 3-5 years of experience in high acuity and high pace environments. Preference will be given to those with 5 years of high-risk experience, but candidates with 3 years of high-risk experience will be considered. Candidates must circulate and provide newborn care, including eye care and vitamin K injections. Caring for patients will include midwifery clients and private obstetricians. Candidates should possess a comprehensive understanding of electronic fetal monitoring. Daily patient census is approximately 15, with around 500-600 deliveries per month. The unit features high-risk and high-volume labor and delivery practices with four operating rooms. Candidates will float to post-partum and antepartum units as needed. Work every other weekend and holidays may be required. Pre-approved time off will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The role involves functioning as a baby nurse during delivery and continuing care of the newborn until transfer to the post-partum unit. Knowledge and skills in areas such as amnioinfusion, anticoagulation therapy, neonatal resuscitation, and managing postpartum care are essential. Candidates must be able to manage medications, including insulin, magnesium sulfate, and opioids effectively. This position may require working collaboratively with various interdisciplinary support services. Compliance with staffing and operational standards, including following AWHONN guidelines, is expected.
