Bowditch & Dewey is seeking an experienced, team-oriented associate for our Employment Practice Area. The associate assists and supports the assigning attorney(s) in the practice in a mix of litigation, counseling, drafting, investigations and training matters. This position may reside in our Boston, Southborough or Worcester office. The role offers a hybrid schedule with three in office days. This is a full-time position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Drafting and revising employment policies, handbooks, employment agreements, separation agreements, settlement agreements and employment releases
• Providing counseling to employers on all HR and employment compliance matters
• Litigating employment cases, including wrongful termination, harassment, discrimination, retaliation and wage and hours matters
• Drafting of pleadings, motions, briefs, and correspondence
• Assisting in all phases of litigation including arguing and defending motions, taking and defending depositions and participating in mediations, arbitrations and trials
• Preparing, reviewing and analyzing voluminous discovery productions and identifying key documents
• Communicating with clients, analyzing client needs, providing sound legal and client centric advice, and status updates
• Providing status updates to the assigning attorney(s)
• Other related duties as required.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Three (3) – eight (8) years of experience in an employment practice area
• Proven experience in representing employers, large and small, in various employment disputes
• Strong academic background with a Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in the state of Massachusetts. (Member of the Massachusetts Bar) (Multiple state Bar admissions are a plus)
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail and strong proofreading skills
• Time management and multitasking abilities
• Strong research, writing, and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work independently and effectively work as part of a larger team

• The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below and represents a reasonable estimate of the starting salary range. The actual offered rate for this position will be determined based on job-related factors including experience, geographic location, external market data and our internal market.

Base compensation of $135,000 - $165,000; bonus eligible per our associate bonus policy
