Job Title: Warehouse Supervisor Job Description

The Warehouse Supervisor oversees a team of warehouse employees to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality operations across assigned departments. This role focuses on meeting business objectives in safety, quality, productivity, responsiveness, and continuous improvement while maintaining strong employee engagement and adherence to established processes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Counsel and support hourly employees by addressing their needs and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
• Recognize and commend positive performance behaviors while proactively addressing and discouraging negative behaviors.
• Use the Quality Network problem-solving process to identify operational opportunities, implement solutions, and actively engage the workforce in generating improvement ideas.
• Apply Workplace Organization (WPO) principles to improve warehouse layouts, material flow, and overall operational efficiency.
• Perform daily updates in the Timekeeping System (TKS) to ensure accurate processing of payroll data for all assigned employees.
• Use the A-3 reporting format to document problem-solving activities and follow local A-3 guidelines and standards.
• Conduct daily meetings to communicate business performance metrics and facilitate two-way discussions with employees.
• Perform and document weekly safety observation tours within departments to reinforce safety standards and identify potential hazards.
• Plan daily workloads in advance to ensure adequate staffing, resource allocation, and on-time completion of tasks.
• Support colleagues and other supervisors to optimize overall shift performance and coordinate cross-functional activities.
• Observe and uphold all contractual requirements, including national and local agreements.
• Enforce shop rules consistently to maintain a fair, safe, and orderly work environment.
• Perform daily Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) audit checks to verify compliance with established processes.
• Advance personal skills and leadership capabilities through the Individual Development Plan (IDP) process.
• Keep the General Supervisor Shop Committee informed of all pending activities and significant operational developments.
• Oversee warehouse management activities including shipping and receiving, inventory control, and logistics coordination.
• Ensure accurate and efficient use of warehouse management systems (WMS) and related technology to manage inventory and workflow.
• Supervise a team of 15 or more employees, providing direction, coaching, and performance feedback.
• Support quality assurance and quality control procedures within the warehouse to maintain high standards of product and process quality.

Essential Skills

• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures.
• Proficiency in basic math to support timekeeping, inventory, and operational calculations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with employees and stakeholders.
• Understanding of the basic technology used in the assigned warehouse area.
• Knowledge of scheduling practices and management systems to plan workloads and staffing.
• High level of analytical ability to address complex problems and develop effective solutions.
• Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees, and drive performance.
• Knowledge of quality control procedures and standards.
• Experience in warehouse management, including supervision of staff and oversight of daily operations.
• Experience in shipping and receiving processes and documentation.
• Experience with warehouse inventory management and control.
• Ability to operate or oversee forklift operations in a warehouse environment.
• Logistics knowledge related to material flow, storage, and distribution.
• Quality assurance and quality control skills.
• Interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and positive working relationships.
• Analytical ability to interpret data and improve processes.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and workflows.
• Math skills applicable to warehouse and production operations.
• Oral and written communication skills to lead meetings and document activities.
• Scheduling skills to plan shifts and workloads effectively.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in warehouse, manufacturing, or related supervisory roles.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma with at least 1–2 years of technical or business school training.
• Training in a skilled trades area or equivalent technical training.
• Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) or inventory management systems.
• Experience working in a unionized environment, including familiarity with union or UAW-related practices.
• Experience with Kronos or similar timekeeping systems.
• Experience supervising teams of 15 or more employees.
• Knowledge of supply chain processes and warehouse management systems.
• Inventory management experience, including cycle counts and stock accuracy.
• Ability to use A-3 reporting formats and Quality Network processes for continuous improvement.
• Familiarity with Workplace Organization (WPO) methodologies.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Reno, NV.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $34.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
