Accounting Specialist (SNP - CO)

Job Description Starting Date: July 1, 2026 Job Position: Accounting Specialist for the School Nutrition Program Job Details: 236 Days – Classified Salary Schedule grade H2 Location: Central Office Roles and Responsibilities Maintains a complete and systematic set of financial records with all financial transactions of the SN Program following Federal/State/Local requirements. Performs all functions related to Accounts Payable including reviewing invoices, entering invoices for payment, and cutting checks. Ensures timely payment of all invoices. Produces monthly financial reports within required timelines. Distributes, tracks, and collects at the end of the school year, all school café change funds. Acts as SN liaison with bank and procures/distributes all banking supplies to café managers. Performs all functions related to Accounts Receivable including invoicing, documentation for rebates, & credits. Makes SN bank deposits as necessary. Reconciles school café deposit slips with bank statements and verifies daily deposits. Using school café data, produces, and submits monthly claim for reimbursement from the Georgia Department of Education. Processes, records, and files all claims for Commodity Rebates. Manages and maintains all activities with NSF check recovery system. Manages and maintains all activities related to online meal payment system. Verifies School Nutrition payroll; computes payroll accruals, disburses payroll reimbursement to the business office. Assists Director in calculating budget expenses and revenues for annual budget. Assists in processing Free & Reduced‑Price Meal applications and conducting federal required On‑site reviews. Assists managers with software and troubleshooting other computer problems. Provides clerical support to SN Program Director and other staff members as needed. Works independently handling problems requiring considerable technical ability, ingenuity, and diplomacy. Performs other duties as assigned related to areas of direct report. Qualifications Associate Degree or equivalent experience with concentration in Business or Food Service (Bachelor's preferred). Georgia Driver’s License. 3 years successful experience in business administration or accounting. Knowledge of automated accounting software; excellent computer skills – Microsoft Office, Excel, SN software required. Excellent oral and written communication, problem solving and organizational skills. Maintain confidentiality, evaluate, prioritize workload, and meet aggressive deadlines. Knowledge of USDA Child Nutrition Program regulations – strongly preferred.
