Ophthalmologist – Independent Practice Track (MedCBO Supported) MedCBO, Inc. – Charlotte, North Carolina, United States Overview This position is for ophthalmologists who want to own and operate their own practice while receiving structured operational support from MedCBO for non‑clinical business functions.Physicians govern clinical operations, clinical decisions, and patient‑care policies. MedCBO does not direct patient care and the physician remains independent. Opportunity Description Physicians may: Start a new private practice Transition from employment to ownership Convert an existing practice to a supported model Relocate and establish a practice in a new market MedCBO supports practice formation, billing and collections, payer contract negotiation, financial reporting, staffing workflows, technology implementation, and more. Physician Responsibilities Provide care within the ophthalmology specialty scope. Develop professional relationships within the medical community. Coordinate payer credentialing with MedCBO as required. Determine clinical services offered. Manage clinical quality and patient experience. Administrative Support Provided by MedCBO Practice formation coordination Billing and collections management Payer contract negotiation Financial infrastructure and reporting Operational workflows and staffing systems Technology platform implementation and support Requirements MD or DO, unrestricted license in good standing in the intended state of practice. Board certified or board eligible in an ophthalmology specialty appropriate to the clinical services provided. Eligible for hospital and/or facility privileges where applicable. Ability to obtain professional liability coverage at standard market rates. No current limitations, exclusions, or disciplinary restrictions that would prevent independent practice. Interest in the independent practice model. Preferred Desire for practice ownership. Community‑based care interest. Leadership or program development interest. Location Multiple U.S. markets available (urban, suburban, and rural). Physician‑directed relocation and market selection are subject to licensure. Compensation Compensation is generated by the physician‑owned practice. Financial outcomes vary based on specialty scope, services offered, payer mix, physician activity, and local market conditions.
