Regional Behavioral Health Specialist

West Central Community Action is now hiring for a Regional Behavioral Health Specialist. The Regional Behavioral Health Specialist is responsible for promotion of mental health, resilience, and well-being. The Specialist delivers expert guidance and support regarding behavioral health needs and concerns to address social, emotional and behavioral health challenges that children experience. The position will provide services to those participating in all programmatic coaching and professional development initiatives to meet continuous quality improvements. This position may choose to office in either Council Bluffs or Harlan, Iowa and will work for our Child Care Resource & Referral Program. 

Minimum Educational Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood
• Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with an Early Childhood Endorsement
• Bachelor's Degree in Child and Family Services
• or Bachelor's Degree along with formal education in mental health or behavioral guidance of young children who are experiencing significant social, emotional, behavioral and mental health needs.

Job Requirements

• Promote, recruit, and contact qualified early childhood care providers to participate in quality initiatives as detailed by the Health and Human Services Scope of Services as a Regional Behavioral Health Specialist.

 

• Provide onsite behavior intervention supports alongside CCR&R staff.

 

• Act as an external coach as regional needs warrant.

 

• Maintain collaborative working relationship with statewide coordination Behavioral Health team regarding initiatives on building statewide capacity.

 

• Attend and support the statewide initiatives developed by the statewide coordination team and share updates with staff in the Region.

 

• Complete regional staff training as appropriate to maintain capacity and sustainability of staff trained on Practice Based Coaching, Pyramid Model framework, trauma informed care & resiliency building, infant early childhood mental health and screening & assessment interventions.

 

• Support the Early Childhood-Positive Intervention Supports State Leadership Team (EC-PBIS SLT) initiatives as directed by the Behavior Health statewide team.

 

• Maintain regional Social and Emotional Behavioral Mental Health (SEBMH) toolkits and supplies.

 

• Update and maintain databases to ensure complete and accurate files. Provide the statewide coordination team with regional needs assessment data and recommendations. Develop, complete, and submit narrative and numerical reports timely.

 

• Complete the I-Consult Certification Project and demonstrate the learned skills and strategies as identified in the Scope of Services.

 

• Complete Practice-Based Coaching Professional Development and Program Wide EC-PBIS Year 1 & 2 professional development workshops. Complete the Teaching Pyramid Observation Tool (TPOT) and the Teaching Pyramid Infant-Toddler Observation Scale (TPITOS) reliability professional development to achieve and maintain certification. Complete teaching and guidance policy essentials checklist (TAG-PEC).

 

• Other duties as assigned.

 

• Current and valid driver's license along with current and valid auto liability insurance along with reliable transportation are required.
