AI Engineer 

Remote 
Contract position 

Pay: $55 per hour + optional medical, dental, vision, 401(k) 

Project Overview 

This position supports an agentic Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) platform that uses AI-powered agents to reduce manual, keyboard-driven operational work. Originally developed as an internal Slack-based operations assistant, this platform is undergoing architectural redesign, expanded system integrations, and backlog-driven enhancements. This role will help build, deploy, and optimize machine learning solutions that support the platform's ongoing evolution. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Implement, refine, and validate machine learning algorithms for production applications and products. 

• Develop and maintain end-to-end data pipelines, including: 

  • Data ingestion 

  • Data validation 

  • Data cleansing 

  • Data monitoring 

• Train, evaluate, and deploy machine learning models into production environments. 

• Monitor model performance and ensure ongoing accuracy and reliability. 

• Support proof-of-concept (POC) development and research initiatives for future AI/ML capabilities. 

• Create and maintain technical documentation, including: 

  • Technical requirements 

  • Evaluation plans 

  • Confluence documentation 

  • White papers 

  • Presentations 

  • Test results and reports 

• Perform testing, validation, case studies, and solution evaluations. 

• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to support OrbitIQ platform enhancements and integrations. 

Required Qualifications 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field (or equivalent industry experience). 

• 1-3 years of professional experience in machine learning, AI, data science, or related engineering roles. 

• Experience with: 

  • Machine Learning and Deep Learning 

  • Data Mining 

  • Statistical Analysis 

  • Model deployment and monitoring 

• Strong programming skills in one or more of the following: 

  • Python 

  • Java 

  • Scala 

• Experience building and managing data pipelines. 

• Familiarity with cloud-native and big data technologies, including: 

  • Kafka 

  • Spark 

  • Docker 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Exposure to AI agents, automation platforms, or SRE-related tooling. 

• Experience supporting production AI/ML applications. 

• Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerized deployments. 

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
