Laboratory TechnicianPerforms routine unregulated laboratory tasks as directed.Work Schedule: This full-time position will work on 3rd shift, 11:00 pm - 7:30 am, 5 days a week to include rotating weekends and holidays.Training Schedule: Training will be on 1st shift, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm or 9:00 am - 5:30 pm, for approximately 4-6 weeks.Based upon when hours are worked, position may include a 3rd shift and weekend differential of $2.50 - $4.50 per hour.ResponsibilitiesThe list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the duties and responsibilities performed within this classification. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such functions are a logical assignment to the position.Receives and processes samples to determine suitabilityPrepares and maintains laboratory records and blood shipping formsIssues blood and blood componentsInspects blood units returned from hospitals and determines suitabilityMaintains component inventory to include recall and inventory lookbackCentrifuges whole blood to produce various componentsModifies blood componentsPerforms unregulated laboratory testing such as pH and bacterial culturingPerforms quality control as directedParticipates in the ongoing monitoring for each testing process to identify errors or potential problems leading to errors and takes effective and preventive corrective actions when indicatedCleans and maintains laboratory equipment, supplies and laboratoryUtilizes computer system to obtain necessary data.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.
