Machine Operator

The Machine Operator prepares and stages composite materials for the production of carbon fiber parts and operates manufacturing equipment and tools safely and efficiently. This role performs layup, trimming, finishing, inspection, and packaging tasks while following detailed work instructions, specifications, and quality standards. The Machine Operator inspects products for quality, completes production and material documentation accurately, and supports inventory, preventative maintenance, housekeeping, and continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and stage composite materials for the production of carbon fiber parts in accordance with work instructions and specifications.
• Operate manufacturing equipment, machinery, and hand tools safely, efficiently, and in line with established procedures.
• Perform layup, trimming, and finishing tasks to meet production requirements and quality standards.
• Conduct product inspection to verify quality, identify defects, and report any issues to leadership promptly.
• Carry out packaging tasks to ensure finished parts are properly protected, labeled, and ready for shipment or further processing.
• Follow all documented work instructions, specifications, and quality standards to maintain consistency and product integrity.
• Complete production and material documentation accurately, including recording quantities, materials used, and process information.
• Support inventory activities by handling materials, components, and finished goods as directed.
• Assist with preventative maintenance efforts on equipment and tools by following maintenance schedules and reporting concerns.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to housekeeping standards to promote safety and efficiency.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting process enhancements and supporting implementation of new practices.
• Collaborate with team members and leadership to meet production goals and resolve operational issues.

Essential Skills

• Ability to operate manufacturing equipment and production machinery safely and efficiently.
• Hands-on experience or aptitude with general production and general labor tasks.
• Ability to use hand tools effectively for layup, trimming, finishing, and related operations.
• Capability to perform packing and packaging tasks with attention to detail.
• Entry-level production experience preferred, with a willingness to learn manufacturing processes.
• Demonstrated steady work history showing reliability and commitment.
• Ability to follow detailed work instructions, specifications, and quality standards.
• Strong attention to detail for inspecting products and identifying quality issues.
• Basic documentation skills to complete production and material records accurately.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment is preferred.
• Comfort working with composite materials and carbon fiber parts is a plus.
• Willingness to support inventory management and preventative maintenance activities.
• Interest in participating in continuous improvement and process enhancement initiatives.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a production team.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Manhattan, MT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
